In a competitive process, I was selected by the Buffalo AKG Art Museum to assist with the evaluation of their new, hands-on playful learning space, Creative Commons. Developed in partnership with Lego, Creative Commons is intended to support childhood development as well as deepen visitor connection with the Museum’s collection and increase use of other galleries and programs.
With input from early childhood education expert, Dr. Elsa Bailey, I developed a suite of evaluation tools for AKG staff and volunteers to use on site. We provided eight detailed research protocols (instruments and instructions for pilot testing as well as data collection, management and analysis) for studies including In-depth Behavioral Observations, Intercept Interviews, Tracking & Timing, Exit Surveys/Interviews (with and without cueing), Short and Long-term Follow-up studies and Group Interviews.
The team has been working with our prototypes – we can’t wait to hear how it’s going!
