Journeys and Destinies: Settling the Southwest Exhibition
Front-end Evaluation & Professional Development
During an intensive three-day workshop with Arizona State Museum staff, we studied and practiced the process of front-end evaluation using several different research methods. Staff and volunteers participated directly in planning, designing and conducting observations, intercept interviews, surveys, and techniques for data management and analysis. Together we designed survey studies for use with artists and visitors, which staff conducted independently after our training session. Funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities, this practical workshop was part of the Museum’s planning process for a new core exhibition, Journeys and Destinies: Settle the Southwest.
